From Brighton Jetty to Hallet Cove kiosk and back, 8 kms and 898 steps in each direction. Start at 7.00 a.m. Appropriately patriotic gear would be welcome for the Australia Day weekend.
From Brighton Jetty we run 3 kms down the sea front in order to reach the MCWT at Marino. From there it’s 5 kms along cliff tops, past the famous geological sites, to the Hallett Cove beach.
For afterwards, a bathe in the sea and brekkie in one of the many cafes on Jetty Rd. We usually go to Prego’s.
This run has now become a traditional and crazy celebration of the Australia Day weekend.
Along the whole route of this picturesque trail there are excellent information signs, and there’s a good web site as well.
When we reach the Hallett Cove Conservation Park at the southern end, the signs tell you about 600 million years of geological history of the landscape around you. Don’t forget to pay your respects to the erratic rock, which has been there since before the dinosaurs.
There are toilets, and water fountains or taps, at regular intervals along the whole route.
