Mt Misery Social Run 2021

Date: Sun, 04 July 2021

Come out to Fox Creek to run the Mount Misery courses. The previous years routes are provided below to give you a feel for the terrain. We will confirm the course for this year before the run.

The courses will not be marked for the social run, so make sure you download the files to your phone app for use on the day.

Start 8.00 a.m. from Croft Rd car park, opposite Anderson Hill Winery, and 2.3 kilometres west of the intersection of Croft Rd, Cold Store Rd and Fox Creek Rd.

Please ensure you do not park in the Anderson Hill Winery customer car park.

Getting there

  • Option 1:
    •  Click here for a google map
  • Option 2:
    • Follow the following directions:
      • From the South-Eastern Freeway, take the Woodside-Balhannah turnoff. In Woodside, take the signposted turnoff to the left, along Tiers Rd, to Lenswood. When you reach Lenswood, turn left then right immediately, into Cold Store Rd. Ignoring turnoffs to left and right along the way, follow this to the intersection with Croft Rd. Then turn left.
From the bottom of the Freeway (where it joins Portrush and Cross Roads), it’s 38 km to the race start. Allow 40 minutes to get there.
      • From Athelstone shopping centre, Gorge Rd, follow Gorge Rd to Cudlee Creek. Continue after passing the hotel on the left. Immediately after The Cudlee Café on the left, fork right into the Lobethal road, and after a kilometre, turn right into Fox Creek Rd, then right again into Croft Rd.
It’s 28 kilometres to the run start from the supermarket shopping centre (with the ugly tower) Athelstone. Allow 35 minutes.

Run times

Saturday: 30km and 17km start at 7am, 12km starts at 8am

This time we’re using Waitpinga as our base and we’re excited to host a fun and relaxed weekend away like we have at Melrose in previous years.

This will be a self-service style weekend where you make your own accommodation arrangements, sort your own food and drinks and we’ll organise a series of runs and hikes for you to choose from in this stunning area. If you’re keen to attend, we encourage you to secure your accommodation option sooner rather than later as it is a popular area and a great time of year to visit. Read on for some accommodation suggestions and to see the runs we have planned for the weekend.

If you’re keen to join us, please complete this form so we contact you with all the details for the weekend.

Event details:

When: 6pm for a 6:30pm start, Wednesday 20 January

Where: upstairs at The Cumby 205 Waymouth St, Adelaide.

What: Nutrition information evening with Erin Colebatch followed by a short and sweet TRSA AGM.

Cost: Free but please RSVP here so we know now many people we’re catering for

Five Peaks social night #1 – Nutrition information evening

We’re very excited to welcome back Erin Colebatch, accredited sports dietician, Accredited Practicing Dietitian & Nutritionist from Ultra Appetites, and of course, running extraordinaire.

Erin delivered a fantastic information session in 2019 in the lead up to Five Peaks with highly relevant and practical advice about how to fuel for races and carb load effectively in the lead up. Erin’s suggestion of iced buns was particularly well received and has become a pre-event staple for many Adelaide runners!

Come along and learn from Erin and pick up some new ideas to try out training in the build up to Five Peaks and beyond.

AGM

In keeping with Trail Running SA’s Constitution we are required to hold an AGM within three months of the end of our financial year (31 December 2020).

To fulfil this, we are holding an AGM on Wednesday 20 January to elect a committee for 2021 and present the standard chairperson and financial reports. We’ll keep it short and sweet.

In accordance with the TRSA Constitution the current committee holds office until the end of the AGM. Therefore all committee positions are declared vacant and any financial member of the club may nominate for any position. The TRSA committee is comprised of 12 members and will have the following obligations:

  1. Regular attendance at committee meetings (monthly, first Monday)
  2. Responding to emails and other correspondence in a timely manner
  3. Be responsible for contributing to a major area(s) of club management.

If you’re interested in finding out more and nominating for the TRSA committee, please email us at [email protected] by COB Wednesday 13 January 2021.
