After a couple of very successful downhill sessions in 2017, Toby and Emma from Form Physiotherapy are coming on board to help get you ready for the Five Peaks Ultramarathon & SA Trail Running Festival with a session dedicated to mastering the uphill
Let’s be honest, trail running with an aversion to going uphill is like trying to surf with a fear of the ocean! At some point it has to be done and there are many things you can do to become better at those dreaded climbs. Fellow runners Toby and Emma from Form Physiotherapy are back to talk uphill running tactics and put things in to practice in a FREE session on the trails at Black Hill! As gradient increases, so does the demand on your body’s systems: legs start to burn, breathing gets harder and every step can be a challenge.
How do you know when to back off and when does walking become more effective than running? How do you power yourself uphill in the most efficient manner and how can you target training to improve speed and endurance on the inclines?
There will be two sessions, meeting at Foxfield Oval ready for a 7am and 8am start. Each session will run for about an hour and will be limited to 30 people.
Both sessions are now full and you check your name in the lists below. Please meet at the Blackhill Track on Montacute Rd where there is some parking. Otherwise, park on Maryvale Rd and run up to the meeting point.
