Why you should enter our races on time (and never use someone else’s bib)

Our trail races are exciting, volunteer-driven events that bring us together to challenge ourselves, experience some of the best trails around Adelaide, and enjoy one another’s company. But behind the scenes, our committee of volunteers is peddling furiously. A successful event requires months of planning, budgeting, logistics, and safety coordination. One of the easiest ways you can support our work—and ensure a great experience for yourself—is to enter the race as early as possible.

Here’s why entering early matters—and why using someone else’s bib is never okay:

It helps us plan a better event

From ordering bibs and portaloos to allocating water, first aid, signage, and volunteers, we rely on accurate participant numbers. The later the entries, the more difficult our planning becomes, and unexpected runners can stretch resources thin. We order our supplies two weeks before the event. Early entries help our events to run smoothly and safely for everyone.

You'll avoid late fees or missing out

We offer member-only super early bird pricing, early bird and standard pricing. Leaving it to the last minute will cost you more. Plus those emails asking us for a late entry because you had a work meeting, your flight was late, your best friend suffered a break-up, or you just didn’t know, don’t work.

Our entries close at 5.00 pm on the Thursday before the event – every time. We tell you this via email, our website and social media. You have at least a month to enter, so don’t leave it to the last minute.

We don’t do this to be annoying! Committee members kick into overdrive at 5.01 pm on the Thursday before the event and from that moment we’re running ourselves ragged trying to put on a great event for you.

Register early, skip the stress and save one of our volunteer committee members from having to tell you “no”. While we’re at it, please don’t rock up at an event and expect us to give you a late entry.

It gives you time to prepare properly

Once you’re officially registered, you’ve made a commitment. You can train the house down (or not), hook in a couple of besties, plan your carpooling, and get excited for race day.

Using someone else's bib puts everyone at risk

Running under someone else’s name may seem harmless, but it’s a serious problem. Bibs are tied to personal details—like age, emergency contacts, and medical information. If you collapse or need assistance, medics may treat you based on the wrong information. It also skews race and age group results and our series competition.

We strictly prohibit unofficial bib transfers for this reason. If you can’t race, and it’s before the registration cut-off, you can go onto RaceRoster and transfer your bib to someone else. If not, please respect our policy. Running with another person’s bib will lead to disqualification, a potential ban for both runners from future events, and places unnecessary pressure on volunteers and emergency staff.

It shows respect for the running community

Our races are supported by government departments, councils, local businesses, our amazing partners, volunteers, and emergency services. Following the rules—including entering on time and wearing your own bib—shows respect for each other and the volunteers who make the event possible.

Bottom line: Enter early. Train well. Wear your own bib.

By doing so, you’re helping create a safer, fairer, and more enjoyable race day for everyone—yourself included.
