LET’S EAT, CELEBRATE, SELL GEAR, AND….
Hold an AGM to whip through a few reports and elect a new committee!
It has been another big year for TRSA and we’re very keen to celebrate it with our community on Sunday 27 November 2022 at the Adelaide Harriers club rooms on the corner of South Terrace and Peacock Rd (https://goo.gl/maps/
EATING AND CATCHING UP
We invite you to join us from 11am and we encourage you to bring picnic chairs, rugs, drinks, games, and children as we’ve got plenty of space to spread out and relax.
Lunch will be served between 12-1:30pm. We have arranged Wood Oven Express to cater pizza and we’ll also be joined by our ever-faithful coffee supplier, John from The Coffee Run. We’re still working through the logistics of costs and collecting RSVPs and we’ll be sure to let you know what the plan is and how you can RSVP very soon.
CELEBRATING THE 2022 TRSA YEAR
From 1:30pm we’re planning a celebration of the TRSA Series overall and age group winners and those who have completed the entire series. We’ll also be taking the opportunity to thank our wonderful volunteers and to share some highlights from the year.
INTRODUCING THE TRSA GEAR SALE
Inspired by Walking SA’s second-hand gear sale at their annual Hiking Expo, we’re planning to give something similar a crack at our end of season event. We’re still working through how best to make this work on the day, but in short, we encourage you to start collecting any trail running shoes, equipment, clothing, and other outdoor gear and clothing that trail running people would like, and bring it along on the day. You decide the price you’d like to sell it for, we’ll facilitate the payment logistics*, and you can choose to either collect unsold stuff at the end of the day or we can donate it to charity on your behalf.
* i.e. receipt of payment and then directing this to you, likely minus a very small commission like Walking SA does to cover admin time and costs. We’ll be completely transparent about this process and there will be a form available here soon to fill in to collect the necessary details and to create labels with prices etc. for your items.
TRSA 2022 AGM
After short reports from the Chairperson and Treasurer as well as covering any other business on the agenda, we’ll proceed with an election for the 2023 committee. As you all know, volunteers are the life-blood of TRSA and this extends to the committee. TRSA events of any description and the general functioning of the Club throughout the year wouldn’t happen without an enthusiastic bunch (12) of committee members. We’re a ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’ style committee. No specific skill sets required beyond a willingness to help and learn in a supportive and fun environment. You’ll feel good and get free entry to our events.
Beyond that, we have a few general expectations of committee members:
- We distribute the workload and exposure to Race Director and Assistant Race Director roles equally across committee members. This includes Five Peaks, four Series events and a trail champs, meaning one of either RD or ARD for each committee member, with some double up required for Five Peaks due the the number of sub-events within that event. These roles aren’t half as scary as you’d expect and you’ll have the entire committee helping in the lead up and on event day.
- Five Peaks is an all in affair meaning committee members don’t run as we need all hands on deck (as well as those of about 100 other volunteers on the day).
- Given that our events are a critical part of TRSA, it is expected that (unanticipated circumstances aside) all committee members commit to attending and helping at all our events preferably, but at least all bar one.
All committee positions are open for nominations from TRSA members and can be sent to email@example.com. The committee positions are:
General committee (8)
We will make an effort to further de-mystify what types of roles committee members take on over the coming weeks, and we welcome any and all questions if you’re remotely interested. Nominations for the 2023 TRSA Committee close on Sunday 13 November 2022 after which we will publish a list of nominations and information on proxy voting here.
We look forward to celebrating another fantastic year for Trail Running SA and our community.
